#ToyTuesday: Of Amphibians and Reptiles

Toy animals hold a unique and profound power to bridge the gap between humans and the natural world, fostering a sense of wonder, empathy, and connection across all ages. For children, these small replicas ignite curiosity and imagination, serving as an early introduction to the beauty and diversity of wildlife. I suspect that most of us can remember a toy animal that we had as a child that has left an indelible mark. Adults, too, find comfort and inspiration in these symbols of nature, reminding them of the intricate web of life and their role in preserving it. Through play, storytelling, and companionship, toy animals become catalysts for environmental awareness, sparking conversations about conservation and nurturing a lifelong bond with the earth. In a world increasingly disconnected from nature, these simple, tangible representations remind us of the wild’s magic and our responsibility to cherish and protect it. In my mind at least, they also allow you to engage with the natural world whatever the weather outside, with just a drop of imagination.

I am therefore happy to announce that I am now working as with a number of different manufacturers to review their models and hopefully help to increase the representation of amphibians and reptiles on the market. I will also be helping to provide my expert opinions on small things like colouration and patterns, which are important for trying to ensure that the models depict an accurate representation of the species, within the confines of the manufacturing process. I also hope to help improve the information provided by the companies about each of the animals to ensure it is scientifically accurate, and that it helps the buyer connect with the species more.

I am therefore happy to announce the first company I am now working with is Mojo Fun. Mojo Fun produces all of the models that I have highlighted in the gallery below, along with a number of other including prehistoric life, big cats and other wildlife. For 10% off at the checkout, use my personalised promocode SJRA10. I’ll be reviewing all of these figurines along with some other herpetological offerings in a future post.
