#ToyTuesday: CuboLogic Desk Viper

Hopefully, if you’re reading this you know that I really love snakes. They were the subject of my PhD thesis and I continue to try to find and fun ways to work with them. So, I was delighted when the Desk Viper from CuboLogic arrived for me to review. It is an intriguing blend of design, mobility and playful realism – something which I wasn’t originally anticipating. Crafted by CUBO Design in Japan, this model is exquisitely detailed and made of flexible 3D printed in polyurethane, making the snake soft and able to articulate like a real snake. Right from the outset, the intention is clear: this isn’t merely a static figurine, but a model that invites interaction, movement and display. Visually, the viper model impresses with fine scale texture, realistic posture and its small size at 21cm in length.

How your Desk Viper will come packaged – multiple colours are available

From a usability standpoint, the model offers surprising versatility. Whether used as a decorative object for a desk or even as a fun fidget or tactile object to handle, it ticks several boxes. The manufacturer mentions imaginative play and desktop display as intended uses. I can see that, and it is that blend of these that makes this model stand out to me. I first thought it was going to be too delicate but I have been proved wrong. That said, because of its detailed build and flexible material, you’ll want to treat it with care. Avoid extreme bends, harsh surfaces or prolonged exposure to sunlight which might degrade the soft plastic or warp its shape.

Finally, for those considering it as a gift or collectible, a few practical notes are worth keeping in mind. The styling is very naturalistic and may appeal particularly to reptile enthusiasts or design‑toy collectors. As it’s a niche item and uses premium materials, you may find the price higher than generic toy snakes; also, if you are after something ultra‑durable for rough play (rather than display or gentle use), a more robust plastic figure might suit better. In short: if you appreciate the blend of craft, realism and playful form, the CuboLogic viper model is a standout. If is isn’t big enough for you, there are a range of other snakes or different species from CuboLogic to collect. I’ve got my eye on a few of them so watch this space. I’d also like to thank Scott for sending me this Desk Viper to review, it now lives with the other snakes in my animal figurine collection.
